The Black Altar Project is a cultural initiative that offers free, accessible programming rooted in Black mystic traditions for communities in Seattle. Through sound sessions, grief and joy circles, tarot, astrology, and community rituals, we create spaces where participants experience rest, reflection, and reconnection, often for the first time in a public setting.
Our work is rooted in ancestral traditions and guided by the belief that cultural heritage is a public good. We focus on Black residents of all genders, generations, and backgrounds, especially those who have faced systemic barriers to cultural belonging and access. Our offerings are culturally specific and led by trusted Black practitioners.
We are actively seeking partners and funders who share our commitment to racial equity, cultural access, and community-rooted care.

- Public rituals that build collective resilience and cultural pride
